Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) has signed an Expression of Interest (EoI) to adopt the principles of Open Access 2020 (OA2020). This is an international effort to make all scholarly publications freely and immediately available to everyone by replacing the current costly subscription-based approach with transparent, sustainable funding models.
Globally, TCC Africa joins academic,research institutions and higher educational stakeholders in signing this EoI .Nationally TCC Africa joins, the Technical University of Kenya and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization. By signing the EoI, these stakeholders have indicated a commitment to advancing open access (OA) through many possible mechanisms.
“As a capacity building centre, part of TCC Africa’s mandate in scholarly communication training involves creating awareness and best practice on open access and signing this EoI shows our commitment to supporting African researchers increase their visibility and output,”said Joy Owango, Executive Director TCC Africa.
The principles of open access are integral of TCC Africa’s activities as they support our mandate on public engagement and capacity building in best practice on open access thus democratizing higher education.
