Renewing our partnership to advance open science across Africa 
Since 2021, PLOS. and TCC Africa. have worked together to make open science more inclusive, locally grounded, and meaningful for African researchers. This began from a core desire to ensure African research communities’ interests and values were better represented in PLOS publications and to co-create pathways to a more equitable Open Science future. Since then, we’ve built networks, relationships and further partnerships based around open science awareness and education, regional capacity building, and policy engagement across the continent. The Zimbabwe Open Science Stakeholder Convening, held as a side event during the 6th Biennial Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium (ZULC) Conference, successfully brought together policymakers, university leaders, librarians, researchers, research infrastructure organizations, and international Open Science partners to chart a coordinated path toward advancing Open Science in Zimbabwe. Africa PID Alliance is a project driven by Training Centre in Communication(TCC-AFRICA), which, encompasses a community of PID enthusiasts in and from Africa aiming to lead and realize a FAIR sharing of access to data using Persistent Identifiers in innovation, research, and technology within the cultural, scientific and cross-industry ecosystems.
