TCC trains 65 Researchers Between January and February in Scientific Communication and Publishing TCC trained 65 participants from various research programmes in Scientific Communication and Publishing and Science Communication and Communicating to Non Scientists TCC trained researchers from University of Nairobi, Gertrude Gardens Children Hospital, Kenya Agricultural Livestock and Research Organization, AGRA Alliance Research Fellows , Maasai Mara University .The training sessions were held in Kenya and we had participants from Burkina Faso, Togo, Rwanda, Kenya, Ivory Coast , Ghana ,Benin and Senegal. Participants were trained in academic writing, data analysis, oral communication, gender in research, leadership in research, writing research proposals and grant proposals for funding. In addition to this participants were also trained on how to communicate to non scientists and produce effective communication tools for targeted audiences.

About TCC

TCC is a non-profit research capacity building organization set up in 2006 and is in partnership with the University of Nairobi. It is the first African- based Training Center to teach effective communication skills to scientists in Africa. TCC has its headquarters at the University of Nairobi, Gecaga Institute, Chiromo Campus in Nairobi, Kenya. It was recently recognized and won the Invest2Impact award.

 

The centre’s mission is to contribute to the increase in profile, locally, and internationally, of African Sciences, and its impact on the life of Africans, by improving skills in technical communication to all forms, at academic and other relevant forums, in African countries. To date TCC has trained over 3000 research scientists in Sub Sahara Africa in Scientific and Science Communication.

 

TCC has also partnered with Kenyatta University, Kenya, in training scientists in communication and publishing. TCC has opened a satellite office in Nigeria in partnership with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria (OAU), through the Directorate of Linkages and Sponsored Research.
