It is the first Centre in Africa that builds capacity in Science Communication for research institutes and universities, through training and guidance in implementation of communication strategy. TCC has successfully managed to build capacity in Science Communication in Western, Eastern and Southern Africa since 2004, before it was registered as a Trust and created a partnership with University of Nairobi in 2007. More information about Training Center in Communication can be accessed at www.tcc-africa.org.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

In Sub-Sahara Africa, DAAD is conducting a major in-country/in-region scholarship programme, supporting Master and PhD studies at selected top African Universities and research institutions with an annual intake of approximately three hundred students annually. The programme is tailored to develop capacity in the Eastern Africa region for both present and future teaching members of staff in the universities.

DAAD’s approach to staff development does not only rely on academic input offered by host institutions, but also aims to add extracurricular training modules so that students emerge as better equipped lecturers, scientists, researchers, future university managers and leaders.
