Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) and Information Training & Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA) form a Partnership to Enhance Librarians’ Capacities in Open Scholarly Infrastructure

Nairobi, Kenya — Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) is delighted to announce a strategic partnership with Information Training & Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA) aimed at empowering and building the capacities of librarians across the African continent in Data Management and Open Scholarly Infrastructure.

The partnership will encompass a multi-faceted approach to address critical challenges faced by librarians, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and knowledge required to effectively navigate the evolving data-driven research and open scholarly practices. Both organizations will work together to develop a robust pipeline of initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of librarians strengthening their capacities in a bid to harness the full potential of digital technologies in advancing research and innovation in their respective institutions. The organizations will also leverage on their existing networks in securing sustainable funding to support these initiatives.

The Executive Director for TCC Africa, Ms. Joy Owango, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership: ‘This partnership with ITOCA not only reinforces our commitment to building research capacities but is also aimed at enhancing the way librarians interact with open scholarly infrastructure and data management.’

‘We are delighted to forge our efforts in this partnership as we continue to support African librarians and researchers to enable them to meaningfully contribute towards global research conversations that address societal challenges’, remarked ITOCA’s Executive Director, Dr. Gracian Chimwaza.
