A Year Focused on African Research Discoverability and Partnerships

21 December 2021 Categories: latest news, News, Season Greetings
2021 has been an  exciting year for  TCC Africa and  these are some of the highlights of our activities. We have officially supported  over  10,000  researchers and  in a bid  to continue  supporting  the discoverability and  visibility of  African researchers , we got into a strategic partnership with  AfricArxiv , Africa’s only preprint repository and we have an ongoing  exciting collaboration with PLOS with the objective of co-creating pathways  to Open Research that work for  African researchers  and stakeholders within the   scholarly community ecosystem .

Part of  TCC Africa’s  professional service  includes  institutional capacity strengthening and we are proud to  note that in 2021  together  with our partner Digital Science we successfully launched the open access research discovery  solution  Dimensions in 10 African  countries , with , plans for  more in 2022. In a bid  to  increase  equity  in peer review we  partnered with  eLife Publications, PREreview ,AfricArXiv and  Eider Africa to create a programme that would support  African early career researchers on  peer review training and raise awareness around preprints and foster the participation of African researchers in peer review, especially the open review of preprints. In 2021 we hosted a series of research capacity webinars ,which, highlight some of the major scholarly communication capacity building activities not limited to  Peer  Review  and Open Access Week in the global academic publishing calendar. With these highlights we wish you a happy holiday and look forward  to working with you in 2022.
Best Wishes
