Nairobi, Kenya- Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) and the Universities Fund are pleased to announce their partnership, forged to strengthen research output, resource mobilization, and commercialization initiatives within Kenyan Higher Education Institutions.

Established under Section 53 of the Universities Act, 2012 of the laws of Kenya, the Universities Fund has been entrusted with the critical responsibility of developing institutional funding criteria, allocating and disbursing government funding to universities, and monitoring the effective utilization and impact of the funds. TCC Africa on the other hand, has been leading the way in its field with its strengths centered on the research lifecycle, formation of strategic partnerships, and industry collaborations to facilitate opportunities for researchers and enhance the impact and visibility of university research. This aligns with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) whose objective is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

Given its extensive experience and industry expertise in research capacity building and resource mobilization, TCC Africa more than complements the mandate of the Universities Fund. This makes it a formidable partner in bridging the gap between academia and industry. Both organizations aim to leverage their knowledge and resources to enhance the research capabilities of local universities and promote access to higher education.

“It is an honor to work with the Universities Fund in supporting the Kenyan higher education sector on seeking innovative ways for resource mobilization, that will aid in their sustainability.” remarked Joy Owango, the Executive Director at TCC Africa.
“The object and purpose of the Universities Fund is to provide sustainable financing for universities through mobilization of funds from the government, donors and from other sources. Our collaboration with TCC Africa will ensure that we support universities through capacity building on resource mobilization and research which will aid in enhancing sustainability in universities.” remarked Geoffrey Monari, the CEO Universities Fund.

By combining their respective expertise, the collaboration between TCC Africa and Universities Fund will foster a thriving research ecosystem that contributes to the socioeconomic development in Kenya.
