Yousef Torman

For more than thirty years, Yousef Torman worked as ICT specialist and strategist at reputable institutions in the sector of higher education and scientific research with focus on promoting and supporting the use of technology for developing research, education and scientific practices.

At the institutional level, I established and managed the New Computer and Information Center at Jordan University of Science and Technology with advanced infrastructure and wide range of services.

At the national level, Yousef established and managed the Jordanian Universities Network (JUNet) which connected them to the national and global research and education networks.

At the regional level, Yousef played a prominent and key role in establishing of the Arab States Research and Education Network – ASREN – for which he is the Managing Director.

As a Managing Director for ASREN his priority is to promote, facilitate and support Science Cooperation and joint activities through the provision of reliable e-Infrastructures with advanced research and educational services. All this with UN-SDGs and UNESCO’s Open Science Recommendations in mind. With Yousef’s leadership, ASREN is now the main convener for Open Science activities for the region.
