Muriu Alex is a Digital Advertising Executive and Web Entrepreneur based in Nairobi, Kenya.
He holds a Diploma in Business Information Technology from Strathmore University and a BSc. in Computer Science from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. Alex is also a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Africa Internet Initiative Program.
Alex has been an Account Director at the Largest Advertising Agency in East and Central Africa, managing Web Campaigns for Blue Chip Companies across the region. He holds the prestigious Diageo Marketing Brilliance Award for his work in Mobile Marketing, having beat Competitors from across Africa in the 2012 Awards, as well as recognition from the Marketing Society of Kenya for his role in the field of Integrated Marketing.
In 2011, Alex was recognized among the top 25 Mobile Entrepreneurs in East Africa to watch for at the Pivot 25 Conference. He has founded and co-founded several companies including a Web Hosting company and an Innovation Lab developed the first ever e-Learning platform for the Kenyan 8-4-4 Education system in collaboration with a leading Private School in Nairobi. He is presently the Founder of Farm Capital Africa, a social impact company providing input capital to small scale farmers in Kenya. In 2015, Alex was awarded the Innovation Prize for Africa by the Africa Innovation Foundation. In 2016 he was recognized among Top 30 under 30 African entrepreneurs by the Forbes Africa magazine.
