Dr. John Weru is a medical doctor and a holder of MBCHB from the University of Nairobi. He is one of the pioneer palliative care specialists in the country. He holds a higher diploma in palliative care from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK. He is about to complete his masters in palliative care in the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK.Dr. Weru has completed a higher diploma in Leadership Development Initiative at the Institute of palliative medicine at San Diego Hospice, California, USA where his main activities were training/teaching with skills on facilitation, presentation, media communication and proposal writing.
Dr. Weru is a member of the Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KEHPCA) scientific committee charged with ensuring that abstracts and any other scientific presentations during the association’s biannual conferences and all times meet high standards.
He has published several articles in the journal of Multinational Association for Support and Care in Cancer (MASCC) as well as doing presentations during their annual conferences. He writes a monthly article in the Health Media International, a monthly journal that educates the public on health issues
